Trinidad Weddings runs the TW Vendor Marketplace, an online directory that helps couples find wedding and event professionals across Trinidad & Tobago. This page explains what we collect when you use the site, why, and what we do with it. We’ve kept it plain. If anything here isn’t clear, email us and we’ll walk you through it.
When we say “we” or “us” below, that’s Trinidad Weddings.
What we collect
We only ask for what we actually need to run the directory.
When you sign up as a vendor, we take your name, email, and a password. Your password is scrambled before it’s stored, so we never see it and couldn’t tell you what it is even if you asked.
When you build a listing, we collect the business details you give us: your business name, description, phone and WhatsApp numbers, email, website, address, social links, and any photos you upload. On a paid plan those details are meant to be seen, so they appear publicly on your profile for couples to find and contact you. A free listing only shows your business name and area; the rest of your contact details stay private.
Listing fees are paid by bank transfer, offline. We keep a record of what you paid, which plan you bought, whether it’s been verified, and any discount code you used. We don’t ask for or store your card or bank-account numbers anywhere on the site. If you email us a payment receipt, that message sits in our inbox like any other email.
If you sign up for the newsletter, we keep your email so we can send it.
And like most websites, we automatically log your IP address and basic browser details when you do certain things, such as signing in, signing up, or submitting a form. We use that to keep accounts secure, catch abuse, and stop anyone from hammering the site.
Cookies
You’ll pick up a small cookie that simply keeps you signed in. We can’t run the site without it.
We don’t use third-party analytics, and we don’t run advertising or social-media tracking pixels.
How we use your information
In short, we use it to run the Marketplace: to set up and manage your account, publish your listing, verify your email, reset your password if you get locked out, and take you through paying for and renewing a listing. We’ll email you about the things that matter, like when your listing is approved, when a payment goes through, or when a listing is about to expire. If you subscribed to the newsletter, we’ll send that too. We also use what we collect to keep the site secure and to meet our legal obligations.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your information, and we don’t hand it to anyone for their own advertising. Full stop.
A few trusted companies help us run things behind the scenes: the service that delivers our emails, the one that stores the photos you upload, and the company that hosts the site. They only handle your information to do their job for us, and nothing else.
Beyond that, anything you put on a paid listing is public by design, and we’ll only ever disclose information if the law requires it or we need to protect people from harm.
Where your information goes
Some of the companies we rely on operate outside Trinidad & Tobago, including in the United States. By using the site, you understand that your information may be handled in those places.
How long we keep it
We hold on to your account and listing details for as long as your account is open. Newsletter sign-ups stay until you ask to come off the list. Sign-in sessions expire after about a month, and the links we email for verifying your address or resetting your password are short-lived. We keep security logs and payment records longer, because we need them for security and for our books.
Your choices
You’re in control of your information. Email us any time to:
- see what we hold about you,
- fix anything that’s wrong or out of date,
- have your information deleted or your account closed, or
- stop the newsletter.
We’ll sort it out as quickly as we can, usually within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm who you are first, because we don’t want to hand your details to the wrong person. These rights sit under the laws of Trinidad & Tobago, including the Data Protection Act, 2011, as and when it applies. To make a request, write to [email protected].
Keeping your information safe
We take security seriously. Passwords are hashed, the site runs over a secure (HTTPS) connection, we make you verify your email, and we limit who on our side can reach the data. That said, no system is ever completely bulletproof, so we can’t promise perfect security.
Children
The Marketplace is for adults, 18 and over. It isn’t meant for children, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has sent us something, let us know and we’ll remove it.
Closing your account
Want out? Email us and we’ll delete your account, which takes your listings and profile down with it. A few things may linger for a while, like security logs, payment records we’re required to keep, and copies of uploaded images sitting in storage or backups, but they age out over time.
If this page changes
We’ll update this page now and then, and we’ll change the date at the top when we do. If we ever make a significant change, you’ll see it here.
